Introduction to the Laurietta's Paraodyssey Team

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

I am a paradressage rider for the USA. Up until recently, I had been competing on my own, Friesian Stallion, Niekele fan Busenitz. He was an amazing dance partner and taught me more than I can ever thank him for. He has currently been sold to Kate Kuss in Wellington, FL and has an amazing home.

I wanted to introduce both my horses that will bring me into the 2019 competition Year. I have had a lot of new changes this year, starting with: location, trainer, and horses. At the time, I can honestly say, I went to bed every night thinking I was completely nuts. How was this ever going to truly get it all together by the show season in wellington.

I can honestly say, things have quieted down and I am now in a good training program with looking forward to the new year. I recently made a big decision to move to Ocala, FL on a more permanent basis. In doing this, I had to find a trainer located permanently in Ocala. This led me to Lisa Hellmer of LTC Farm. She has been an amazing person in helping me pull it all together and helping me recenter my focus.

The biggest part of my life came when I decided to retire Nikki as my competition horse and bring in another mare. After some long discussions, I decided to give my Zuiebrucker mare, Windsome, whom I originally got from Kendra Kent back in 2014. She is a Weltmeyer x Donnerhall mare and has a BIG walk. She had been basically in a pasture being a horse for the last 4 years. In making this decision, I went back to Ohio this summer and worked with her. I had an amazing summer with family and friends. Something I haven't gotten to do much in the last 4 years, so I was very excited over this opportunity and riding a new horse.

The 2nd horse came along by accident when a friend sent me some pictures while I was on my way to PA to visit Nikki. At the time, I was not sure. With more watching videos and so on, I decided what would it hurt to call the owner and talk. One thing led to another, till I ended up getting a 2nd horse. The 2nd horse is City Girl, a 10 year old, Rhinelander out of Hohenstein x Donnerschlag. I am very excited to own her and bring her to the competition this year. Thanks Katherine Kuss for this opportunity.

Niekele Fan Busenitz is officially sold to Kate Kuss
