This year has been a very tough year. I moved to Ocala, FL actually October 2018, but I had to find the right trainer combination with my horses and myself. That had the ability and time to also help me realize my goals for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
I recently moved in July 2019 with Lisa Hellmer of LCH. She is a very quiet, but knowledgeable trainer. The move from Blue Hill Farm was a tough one, but moving with Lisa has been an easy transition.
Unfortunately, my new Rhinelander Mare, CIty Girl was hurt this past April 2019. She suffered a fractured coffin bone and a p2 cyst, so her future is still up in the air. She is on time off and rehab currently to see if there is a chance of her coming back. Prayers for her on her road to recovery.
My other Mare, Windsome, we are working currently on making her my main horse, but at 15 years, she has a lot of maintenance to keep her going and we are still trying to get her into a good program.
Yes, things have been very tough and many ups and downs. With this, I have actually had time to reevaluate and spend time with family/friends this last spring. That was a nice break. Had more time for training of my service Dog, Greysohn which is always a pleasure.
I am still looking forward to trying to qualify for the Paralympics but I am also on the search for a possible horse to lease just in case Windsome will not be able to compete. I will have to say though, that her and I have become very close with everything this year has had to offer. With all that being said, I am still optimistic that all will be ok and end well. God has given me many gifts and taught me many lessons on patience this year. Probably needed this as I am a "go getter" type of person and do not take time to slow down sometimes.
